Why is Ms. Dan almost completely absent from any of the symphony's printed material? (I say "almost" because I can't claim to have read every word of everything issued by the orchestra.)

Her photo doesn't appear in the programs or subscription material; I didn't even know that she is female until I read this posting. She seems to conduct very few concerts (her name was on a few family concerts), so how is she spending her time?

I don't recall that the orchestra has ever (in the last 25 or 30 years) had a conductor at any level who was so anonymous.

Thanks for the question! Ms. Dan is a primary conductor on our Symphony for the Schools concerts and other educational activities in schools.

In the 2007-08 season, Kayoko also will continue to conduct concerts in our Family Series, and will be conducting one of the People's Pops concerts presented by the City of Phoenix. These activities are not listed in the orchestra's general marketing material because they either are not ticketed events, or are intended for students.

In addition to these responsibilities, Ms. Dan shares the responsibility as a "cover conductor" for Symphony Pops and Classics concerts, to be available in case unforseen circumstances prevent Michael Christie or a guest conductor from leading the orchestra.

Thanks for the info about Ms. Dan. Whatever her duties, I believe that her photo and bio belong in the symphony's marketing materials. After all, the family concerts are listed, right? And she's a conductor employed by TPS (as you people like to call the PSO), right? So how about some recognition?

Hello "3 blind (anony)mous:

Kayoko-san's photo is on the FRONT COVER of the 2007/08 Season Preview Guide! She is head shot #11.

She joins other prominent head shots such as #7 Lawrence Globan and #17 Robert Mealy.

The big question is: Can you name that "blurry" conductor featured on the cover page?

I'm glad to know that Ms. Dan is getting recognition, and that the problem is my lack of access to all of the relevant material published by the symphony. (I subscribe, but via a friend, and am not on the subscription mailing list.) However, I would like to see her photo and bio in the Classics programs, which I believe has always been the practice in the past. Perhaps that information will be included for the 2007-08 season(?).

What does a conductor like Ms. Dan, do during the long summer break in between seasons? Does she teach at one of the summer music camps around the country?

And give us a clue about Mr. Globan's summertime activities.
Does he teach summer sessions back in Denver?
