In Good Company

Pianist Simon Trpceski stole the show two weeks ago here in Phoenix when he performed Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto. He let us know he was headed back home to Macedonia but not without a stop in New York City. Mr. Trpceski performed the same piano concerto with the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Lorin Maazel. His performance was part of the Philharmonic’s month-long festival devoted to the works of Tchaikovsky, and it was no surprise that the performance was hailed as a unique and powerful experience. While many of us hear pieces like Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto over and over again, it is amazing what artists like Mr. Trpceski can contribute to a work while honoring the masters that created them. It is obvious that Mr. Trpceski is a rising star, and we are glad to be in good company.
