May 31st: Eartha Kitt - Woman of Many Faces

Few of history's greatest performers can claim success across multiple areas of expertise. But as today's Phoenix New Times article points out, Eartha Kitt has cult fan followings in many genres: from disco to television to jazz. Even if the name "Eartha Kitt" doesn't ring a bell, her voice almost certainly will. Check out videos of some of her performances like I Want to be Evil or C'est Si Bon. If those don't jog your memory, how about her role as the infamous Catwoman from the old Adam West Batman series?

Whatever your favorite memory of Ms. Kitt is, fans of all kinds will no doubt be entertained when she joins The Phoenix Symphony this Saturday to perform all her most well-known songs and to share memories of her amazing life story. So get your tickets for this Saturday, May 31st to find out why Orson Welles called Eartha Kitt, "the most exciting woman in the world."

UPDATE: Check out the New Times review of Eartha Kitt's performance with The Phoenix Symphony.

I have to tell you, I loved the review in the New Times!

I hope this journalist, Niki D'Andrea will come and hear some of our other special events in the coming season. Perhaps she will be happy to cover more of our Pops shows?

The Phoenix Symphony is right in the middle of downtown's renaissance and she is one of the influential people that is guiding a large group of arts readers in the Valley.

I hope more people like Niki D'Andrea establish themselves as cultural guides during this exciting stage of development for our beloved region.

Have a great summer, everyone!
