Eight Seasons

Next weekend, acclaimed baroque violinist Robert Mealy and 2008 Avery Fisher winner, Karen Gomyo, return to Phoenix to perform "Vivaldi/Piazzolla: Eight Seasons" with the Phoenix Symphony Chamber Ensemble.

Inspired by Vivaldi’s celebrated Four Seasons, Argentinean Astor Piazzolla composed his fiery Four Season of Buenos Aires combining jazz, Latin rhythms, and the mighty tango.

These two pieces will be performed in juxtaposition at the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23, both at 8 p.m.

"Vivaldi/Piazzolla: Eight Seasons" is part of the Target World Music Festival. Other concerts in the Festival include tonight's presentation of Jake Shimabukuro*, the African Children's Choir* on January 17, Argentine Tango! on January 24, and Band of the Irish Guards* on February 27.

*The Phoenix Symphony does not perform on these concerts.
