A Note from Michael Barnard of Phoenix Theatre

I am very excited about our partnership with The Phoenix Symphony for The Music Man. Phoenix Theatre collaborated with the Symphony a few years back on a couple of Christmas concerts called Yuletide and they were a blast, but I think our upcoming concert musicals will be even more satisfying. The collaboration with the Symphony is a perfect synergistic way to celebrate the thriving arts community in Phoenix as well as a great kick-off to our 90th anniversary season.

We are known for producing musicals, so to have our artists backed by the beauty of a full orchestra live on stage is thrilling for me and our performers. Our actors are just jazzed. I was able to assemble some our finest talent for the concert. Plus, The Music Man has always been one of my favorite shows. I remember as a boy watching the movie and having the opportunity to play Harold Hill myself in my younger years.

I also have to say that I love the fact that two prominent arts organizations in the city can still do this type of partnership. It has been fun to get to know Michael Christie and Maryellen Gleason. Both of them are consummate pros and true partners in this venture. I simply can't wait to premiere this concert to the public as it is a wonderful collaboration.
