One Nation

Music students from the One Nation community partnership program gave their year-end concert on Thursday, May 20 at 7:00 pm at Salt River High School. Program highlights included performances by the Combined Concert Choir, Girls Chorus, Violin and Piano Ensemble and Combined Jr. and Sr. High Concert Band.

The Phoenix Symphony is proud of its long-standing partnership with the students and teachers from Salt River High School and Salt River Elementary School. Each year, the music department continues to grow and improve thanks to the commitment of Salt River staff including Choral, Piano and Strings Director Christopher Wakley, Band Director Jeffrey Kelly, and Assistant Music Instructor Albert Grijalva.

The instrumental students at Salt River High School receive weekly private lessons from Phoenix Symphony musicians, adding tremendous depth and maturity to the students’ playing.

Thank you to the following musicians who work tirelessly with these students each week:

Joe Corral, flute
Emery Harvison, trumpet
David Pack, trombone
Ron Whaley, violin & piano
Gal Faganal, cello & bass
Fred Marderness, percussion

Congratulations to the students and teachers for all their hard work this year!
