Holiday Transportation Goes Musical
Musicians and staff hustled and bustled around Symphony Hall this morning, but it wasn't for a concert or rehearsal. The City of Phoenix parked bus #6291 in front of the hall, newly decorated in holiday wrapping complete with photos of Music Director Michael Christie, the symphony, and a big red bow. Musicians and staff (even Mayor Phil Gordon stopped by to join in the fun!) spent the morning deocrating the inside with posters representing each section of the orchestra. The newly decorated bus will go into regular service in central Phoenix in and around routes on Central Ave. starting November 28 and running until January 4 when it will appear in the city's Three Kings Parade. Local CBS affiliate KPHO was also there to catch the event - in case you missed the news broadcast, you can watch the video below:
In addition to the bus itself, The Phoenix Symphony and the City of Phoenix Public Transit Department have also teamed up to run a "Golden Ticket" contest in which you can win passes
to symphony concerts, light rail and valley metro passes and tickets to the light rail preview event in December! Official rules and entry requirements can be found here at the City of Phoenix Public Transit Department's website.
All of this results in The Phoenix Symphony making its way into new and alternative forms of marketing in an economic time when traditional advertising costs dig deeper and deeper into budgets. So the next time you need to get somewhere in the Valley, keep an eye out for the Phoenix Symphony Holiday Bus and your trip will be a little more merry.
