Phoenix Symphony CEO Maryellen Gleason recognized by United Blood Services

Last fall, we blogged about The Phoenix Symphony's now annual team-up with United Blood Services. Thanks to participation from orchestra members, staff and symphony fans across the Valley, UBS met its goals during the busy holiday season.

Last Friday, UBS held a "Valentines for Life" luncheon during which they awarded Phoenix Symphony CEO, Maryellen Gleason their Bill Shover Leadership Award. The award was created in 1999 by the Community Leadership Council to honor and individual for their outstanding commitment to United Blood Services with criteria including the ability to provide value for the recipient's own organization as well as United Blood Services through their contribution. Under Maryellen's tenure as CEO, UBS has received over 22,000 blood donations through the Phoenix Symphony ticket voucher reward program.

Not only does this team-up provide the vital blood UBS needs to serve the Valley's medical needs, but it has also served to introduce thousands of people to The Phoenix Symphony for the very first time. That's something we can all be proud of. Congratulations Maryellen!
