Christmas Pops is Coming to Town
The Holidays are in full swing and The Phoenix Symphony is your home for the best music of the season. Last week we joined with the City of Phoenix Public Transit Department to launch the Holiday Bus, but that's not the only spot you might hear about the symphony while you're on the go. If you drive by the large LED billboards on the loop 202 freeway, you'll pass by some wonderful big-screen ads promoting our Holiday offerings (as well as Bugs Bunny on Broadway). Just be sure to keep your eyes on the road! The Holiday festivities all start this weekend when The Phoenix Symphony Chorus and the Phoenix Girls Chorus join Resident Conductor Lawrence Golan and our orchestra for our annual Christmas Pops concert. Lawrence and the two choruses stopped by the Good Morning Arizona studios this morning to give everyone a little preview of the show, and we've got it for you right here:
Christmas Pops fills up the hall with lots of friends and families so be sure to grab your tickets here if you don't have them already. Performances of Handel's Messiah start next week and Baroque Christmas performances follows soon after - we're overflowing with Holiday music!
By now, we know what you're thinking: how can I see all this great music and still get all my Holiday shopping done? The answer is simple: The Phoenx Symphony Gift Shop will be open at each concert this weekend at Symphony Hall, and Phoenix Symphony Gift Certificates are available online or by phone at 602-495-1999.

I loved the Phoenix Girls Chorus. I loved the Phoenix Symphony Chorus and I loved the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. The performance was excellent. However, I did not think much of the program. Not one single Christmas carol was sung or played. I was disappointed with the
program. The balance between Pops and the more traditional Christmas music was too much on the Pops side for me. The Hallelujah Trail was,
in my opinion, not appropriate for this program. I missed not hearing the Hanukkah Tarantella. Why was it cut? Perhaps next year you will do one of the Many Moods of Christmas suites or some medely like it. Thank you again Phoenix Symphony, Chorus and Girls Chorus. I'll be looking forward to hearing you next year."
