Celtic Crossover

Continuing where Opening Night’s roof-shaking Wagner Spectacular left off, The Phoenix Symphony resumes its Target World Music Festival with acclaimed celtic fiddler, Natalie MacMaster. She’ll be sure to bring her trademark high energy and delicacy to the Symphony Hall stage on Friday and Saturday evenings (at 8 p.m.), backed by our very own Phoenix Symphony and Virginia G. Piper Music Director Michael Christie. Come one, come all—but make sure to bring your dancing shoes—this concert will keep you on your feet!

If you plan on attending the Family concert on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., be sure to arrive early for pre-concert actitivites! Beginning at 1:30 p.m., children will have the opportunity to learn step-dancing, create Celtic crafts and hear the lore of the Emerald Isle!

More info on the fiddler that is MacMaster can be found on her website. Tickets are stomping out quickly—get them at our website here.

In the 52 years that I have attended
Phoenix Symphony concerts, the
performances on September 13 and 20
were the best. I hope that the
orchestra continues to expand its
horizons in offering us more music
from around the world. In time,
I feel that Symphony Hall will be
sold out because of performances
like these.

I have to add that I had some fears when I saw the program for the first subscription concert. It was fairly lengthy and ended with one of the most difficult works in the entire symphonic repertoire. But the evening was thoroughly enjoyable and to my amazement, the Bartók Concerto was one of the finest performances I've ever heard of this work.

Thank you for your kind words. Hats off to the orchestra for being so adaptable and for giving tremendous energy to these early season programs. I would also like to acknowledge the dedication of our production team that did such a great job making our inaugural Target World Music Festival a great success. Their behind-the-scenes efforts are always appreciated, but they made a special effort on this one!

I am committed to making every performance we give the highest quality and ever improving whether it is in these "shoulder" months or the high season after New Year. We are committed to giving great concerts whenever our audience comes!

Thanks for writing.
