Once again, "Bravo Golan!" Great presentation of "Bernstein on Broadway" on Saturday night.

The light orchestral accompaniment in all the songs showed how soft and sentively this group is capable of playing. The highlight for me were the muted trumpet chords. Soprano Areyzaga and tenor Ossenfort in their love duets showcased Bernstein's masterful harmonies.

The best of show was the orchestra's jazzy rendition of the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. The standing ovation was real and well deserved. The percussion section should have responded to Golan's signal for the first solo bow!

Maestro Golan continued to prove that excitement can be achieved without loud blasting by the brass. As in his Tchaikovsky 5th and Brahms 4th, melodic lines ruled the day. The orchestra members responded enthusiastically with the finger "snaps" and the stand-up "Mambo!" exclamations.

I am looking forward to the Baroque Christmas concert. Question for the violinist/conductor Golan: Will you play the solo violin in Vivaldi's "Winter" concerto?
